Adela Roman – Team Leader Engineering Wind Plants

I started my journey at ContourGlobal few months ago as Global Responsible for the wind engineering of our assets. After after graduating as Industrial Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, I started working initially on business development and mechanics namely in system dynamics and later, I transitioned to performing as an adjuster and troubleshooting on clients’ operational assets, primarily in Spain.

In 2021, I started working in offshore wind where I was able to contribute to both bottom-fixed and floating offshore wind projects at various stages of development. In particular, a floating wind industry´s reference off the coast of Portugal, which represented a special experience for me and allowed me to collaborate on two white papers with the talented experts from the University of Porto (FEUP). I also traveled to Norway to work with offshore platform designers to design floating substructures.

Now, in my current role, I look forward to generating a centralized data system to monitor all our operational assets and find synergies that enable improving their performance. Some advice to young women pursuing a career as mine? Wind is so broad that you can seek until you find the aspect of the work you are passionate about, and this will enable for sure a possibility of professional growth for you!

I started working in research in the field of energy markets and grid security while I was still studying. Now I work as Operations Manager in the technical operations department for our wind farms in Austria. This department is responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our wind turbines.

My ambition is to advance the field of renewable energy, focusing on innovation and efficiency. I aim to deepen my expertise and join impactful contemporary and future-oriented projects that drive sustainable change.

My advice to young women considering a career in ContourGlobal is to stay curious, seize opportunities and be resilient in the face of setbacks. Working in the energy sector means facing challenges, but it also offers incredible opportunities.

I started my career in administration and project management, working as a Project Manager in an NGO. My transition to the energy sector was unexpected but exciting—I had the opportunity to work with the Ministry of Energy, where I gained valuable insights into energy policy and sectoral development

I aim to continue growing within the energy sector, further developing my expertise in operations and project coordination. My goal is to take on leadership roles where I can drive efficiency and innovation in administrative processes.

But if there’s one piece of advice I’d share, it’s to be confident and proactive. The energy sector offers incredible opportunities for growth, and it’s important to step forward, take on challenges, and keep learning. ContourGlobal is full of supportive mentors and colleagues that make a huge difference in your growing path.

Francisco AguilarEnvironmental Protection Professional at our Arrúbal Plant

I joined the plant as an Industrial Engineer, specializing in Chemistry, during its construction and throughout the first years of start-up. Among my responsibilities was setting up the laboratory and establishing the area’s procedures. Over the years, I took on responsibility for Environmental matters, and now my work is more focused on process supervision.

I feel like I’m part of the plant, of the team we’ve built. There are jobs where you move from one area to another or work more independently, but here we’ve created a united and collaborative team.

Working at ContourGlobal has given me the opportunity to be involved in various projects and exposed me to different contexts outside my comfort zone, allowing me to continuously learn new things.
