Power Plants in Italy
ContourGlobal owns and operates seventy-one cutting-edge ground-/roof-mounted PV plants across Italy, boasting a total DC capacity of 106 MW after the implementation of our repowering and revamping activities. Each facility is integrated into the Italian National Grid, ensuring a reliable and efficient power distribution network. Our plants benefit from a fixed 20-year feed-in tariff, providing a stable cash flow from our assets.
ContourGlobal has played a role in powering Italy’s rapidly developing solar market. Our solar sites commenced operations between 2007 and 2013, setting the stage for a legacy of sustainability and strong operating track-record.
During these years, we remained committed to the Italian market, steadily implementing our roll-up strategy of acquisition of new assets in the past few years. The value generated by our people and portfolio has also allowed us to attract investment capital through the high-quality partnership with our current minority shareholder, Energy Infrastructure Partners, which owns 49% of our Italian fleet.
With a robust pipeline of greenfield projects, our strategy also includes revamping and repowering current assets, ensuring they stand the test of time and remain at the forefront of technological innovation. As of today, we connected 6.4Mp as merchant sections, pushing our total installed capacity in the country beyond 100 MWp for the first time, on track to reach 113 MWp by early 2026. Even though land use for Solar PV is not a real issue but just a perceived one, revamping and repowering is a smart solution to increase renewable energy without use of additional land.
Once fully operational, our upgraded solar plants will generate 174 GWh per year, a more than 40% increase in production compared to their original capacity.
