Power Plants in Colombia
Our 240 MW TermoemCali combined-cycle gas-turbine plant plays a key role in diversifying Colombia’s primarily hydroelectric generating portfolio where reliable power supplies during seasonal dry periods are critical to its vibrant and growing economy.
The combined-cycle plant is located near Cali, in Valle del Cauca State. It was built in 1999 using a 1x1x1 design – one Siemens gas turbine, one Mitsubishi steam turbine and one VOGT Heat Recovery Steam generator – overseen by centralized control for high efficiency. The project benefits from the reliability fee scheme, where the Colombian energy system pays a fixed monthly fee for certain thermal power plants to be available for dispatch when hydrology is unfavorable for the hydropower plants.
In November 2025, we achieved another step in our transition to renewable energy, this time by adding 11 MWp of PV in Colombia, our first renewable asset in the Country which is covered by a 15- year PPA with a local energy trader. This operating asset, Condor PV plant, was acquired by our subsidiary TermoemCali and is located at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level in the municipality of Simijaca, in the department of Cundinamarca, approximately 115 km from the Colombian capital.
