Bonaire Hybrid Hub
The Bonaire Hybrid Power Plants the sole electricity supplier to the island’s 30,000 inhabitants. All the energy is sold to Water-en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB), a government utility company, under a long term power purchase agreement. Utilizing the mix of technologies plus battery energy storage provides a major advantage, as the generation types complement each other to provide a perfect balance of renewable and reliable electricity supply.Being the sole generator of electricity in the island, ContourGlobal supplies power 24/7, 365 days per year and is planning to expand its installed capacity to supply the island’s fast growing energy demand (7.4% yearly increase). Through the cooperation with the Dutch Government, local authorities and communities, ContourGlobal is committed to lead additional energy transition initiatives, pursuing our commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to contribute with global efforts to keep planet’s warming below 1.5°C.
Trinity Power
On February 2021, ContourGlobal acquired Trinity Power, a 225 MW gas turbine open cycle located in Couva Locality, Trinidad and Tobago. The energy output is contracted by Trinidad and Tobago Energy Commission TnTEC in a long term power purchase agreement. This plant is one of the 3 natural gas generation plants that provides the electricity with to the Island. Currently we are driving all efforts to evaluate and develop a project to close the open cycle by adding a steam turbine which consumes the hot exhaust gas from the main gas fired turbines increasing by 134 MW the electric output with no additional fuel consumption.
