Power Plants in Italy

In Italy, we operate 71 solar PV plants across 14 regions, with a total installed capacity of 106 MWdc, set to reach 190 MWdc by 2027 through a combination of new projects, repowering, and revamping initiatives. All plants are connected to the Italian National Grid and benefit from long-term Contracts for Difference (CfDs) or fixed feed-in tariffs, ensuring reliable power delivery and stable cash flows.

Our Italian solar sites, which began operations between 2007 and 2013, laid the foundation for a legacy of sustainability and operational excellence. Over the years, we have steadily implemented our roll-up strategy, acquiring new assets and leveraging the expertise of our teams. This strategy has also enabled strategic partnerships, including with our minority shareholder Energy Infrastructure Partners, which owns 49% of the Italian fleet.

In 2025, ContourGlobal secured 3 new solar PV projects in Sicily, totaling approximately 80 MWdc, through the FerX and NZIA tenders, expected to commence operations in 2027 and using European-origin components, reinforcing the local industrial ecosystem and contributing to a more resilient renewable supply chain.

At the same time, we have continued our program of repowering and revamping existing assets, with 35 plants upgraded for a total of 42 MWdc and a performance increase of more than 33%. Once the second phase of these activities is completed, the Italian portfolio will reach approximately 113 MWdc by mid-2026. Fully operational, the upgraded and new plants will generate 174 GWh per year, representing a more than 40% increase in production compared to their original capacity.

Combined with the new tendered projects, the total installed capacity in Italy is expected to exceed 190 MWdc by 2027.

ContourGlobal’s Italian strategy combines next-generation solar PV deployment with battery energy storage systems (BESS), with the first Italian BESS projects planned to start construction in 2026. This effort is supported by a 1.9 GW battery storage project portfolio, built through strategic acquisitions from leading industry players over the course of the year.
