Power plant in Colombia

The combined-cycle plant is located near Cali, in Valle del Cauca State. It was built in 1999 using a 1x1x1 design - one Mitsubishi steam turbine and one VOGT Heat Recovery Steam generator – overseen by centralized control for high efficiency. The project benefits from the reliability fee scheme, where the Colombian energy system pays a fixed monthly fee for certain thermal power plants to be available for dispatch when hydrology is unfavorable for the hydropower plants.
