INNOVATIVE, ENVIRONMENTALLY SMART SOLUTIONS
We look at a partner’s full range of energy requirements and opportunities when designing our efficiency-boosting solutions. For example, we’ve become experts at capturing what some manufacturers call “waste” heat – the byproduct of manufacturing processes and electric-generator operations. We go beyond simple cogeneration designs that use this energy to drive turbines, and create tri- and even quad- generation designs to power other heating and cooling equipment, and even produce food-grade carbon dioxide. Such innovative improvements cut operating expenses, and they also create significant reductions in CO2 emissions – up to 95%, in some cases.
SKY-HIGH POSSIBILITIES
More recently, we’ve capitalized on the technology advances – and cost reductions – making solar photovoltaics a viable and important energy resource. In 2010, we placed 15 MW of solar capacity into service in Italy, alone, with an additional 35 MW planned for 2011. We see great opportunities for incorporating roof- and ground-mounted solar panels into larger efficiency-improvement projects.
